We are always very happy to provide vegetarian, vegan, gluten/dairy free or other menus - just ask when booking.

(Fair Isle is very small and a very long way from the nearest supermarket, specialist food items not readily available on the isle need to be ordered in - at a premium. We therefore will add a single payment of £10, irrespective of length of stay, to the bill of guests requiring a specific diet.)

Fair Isle enjoys many 21st Century comforts but it is still genuinely remote; weather here changes rapidly and at any time, even in summer, the island may be cut off for a day or two - without transport in or out! Therefore

Travellers with advance purchase tickets valid for a specific journey should allow for delays.
People intending to explore Shetland should visit Fair Isle early in their holiday.
You may wish to consider travel insurance.
Allow yourself plenty of time - and don't be tempted to cram too much into one trip.

The Good Shepherd and DirectFlight only charge for journeys undertaken and will carry you on their next available service.

We do not charge guests for the nights they have been unable to reach the island due to bad weather but extra nights stayed will be charged at the standard rate.

Mobile (cell phone) reception at the lighthouse is good but only the O2 and Vodaphone networks are available on Fair Isle.

We regret that due to the remote nature of the island we cannot normally accept dogs.
