Far more than bed and breakfast and not  merely a guest house

For a  magical 'get-away-from-it-all' break you'll long cherish visit lovely Fair Isle

and stay at its famous South Lighthouse. Where, on a dramatic rocky peninsula - surrounded by sea and sky, you can unwind in the comfortable accommodation and warm hospitality that is the hallmark of this remote, iconic landmark.

For more than a century the lighthouse has firmly withstood the onslaught of ferocious Atlantic storms and even air raids - yet it remains a bright and peaceful haven.

  • Enjoy a friendly welcome with lashings of good home-cooked food - much of which is locally produced and sourced.

(Weather conditions can change rapidly on Fair Isle and it may not always be possible, even in summer, to get on or off the island at the anticipated time. Visitors should bear this in mind when booking their journey and consider whether or not travel insurance is advisable. For this reason too we would strongly recommend that visitors to Shetland come to Fair Isle at the beginning of their holiday, rather than at the end.

The Good Shepherd and DirectFlight only charge for journeys undertaken and will carry you on their next available service.

We do not charge guests for the nights they have been unable to reach the island due to adverse weather conditions but extra nights stayed will be charged at the standard rate.)
